Two times African Referee of the Year, Bakary Papa Gassama, has disclosed that Gambia’s Jaliba Kuyateh, is his favourite artiste, especially one of his songs he dedicated to President Jammeh.
Papa said the President is his father, making him to love every song about him. He added that Jaliba’s songs are always educative and entertaining, saying the kora maestro does not release songs for pleasure but probably talks about the issue that affects the society we live in on a daily basis.
“I am a Jahanka but even though my Mandinka is not that clear, I love listening to what Jaliba says in his songs especially in the songs that talks about tradition and modernity,” he said.
He urged Gambian musicians to watch the content of their songs hence what the song says give people the zeal and the opportunity to listen to it. “I guess their songs are basically for the public to listen to,” he added.
