The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has suspended Red Scorpions coach, Chorro Mbenga and her assistant, Dodou Faye, for the 2016/17 season for their involvement in a violence marred Cup match last month.

The GFF made the announcement yesterday in its weekly newsletter sent to Observer Sports Desk after the Organising Committee said it had found the duo guilty for participating in the physical assault of match officials leading to bodily harm in a Women Football Cup game against Interior.

The latest suspension came after the Appeals Committee had referred the matter to the Organising Committee for their urgent consideration and action.

The Appeals Committee had earlier in the week dismissed the appeal lodged by the team and upheld the decision to relegate them to the second tier and ban some players for a calendar year.
