GSM service provider, Africell has reached an agreement with The Gambia Radio and Television Services to broadcast all 51 games of the Euro 2016 on the national broadcaster.
A contract was signed between Africell and the national broadcaster, earlier this month.
The competition, the 15th edition of this championship held every four years, will for the first time ever see 24 teams participating. The competition is hosted by France.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Musa Sise, Media Consultant for Africell, said the move taken by his institution to sponsor the airing of the Euro 2016 is meant to satisfy the interest of its customers and the general public.
“Africell is here to officially launch its coverage of the Euro 2016 to kick off in France, Paris on 10th June, 2016. It is a competition that is probably second to the World Cup because of its organisational strides and on the manner in which it is always being competed,” Sise said.
He further disclosed that there would be lucrative gifts during the period of the Euro 2016 from Africell to its subscribers.
Ebrima Barry, Human Resources Director of Africell said the Company was very proud and honoured to have sponsored the airing of Euro 2016 on public television, noting that the institution has for so long being contributing its quota to the development of sports in the country.
He promised that there are modalities in place to ensure that there is an uninterrupted broadcast of the matches.
