As football enthusiasts continue to swallow the bitter pills of 4-0 loss on home soil to South Africa last Saturday, athletics enthusiasts are still celebrating the success of Gina Bass who secured an Olympic qualification in the 200 meters with timing of 23:14.
Meanwhile, Adama Jammeh competed in the 100m and finished 10:27 needing little push to secure the Olympic timing of 10:20.
Another Gambian athlete who was competing in Guyana to meet the Olympic timing is Omar Jammeh, an 800m specialist who finished second in his race with a timing of 1:51:00. Omar Jammeh will be working very hard before the African Games to secure the 800m Olympic standard time of 1:46:00.
After competing in Guyana over the weekend, all three athletes returned to their base in France where they continue their preparations with some few competitions in France before the African Games in Durban, South Africa.
