The Gambia U-20 team, known as Young Scorpions, will take to the field few hours from now for a crucial match against their Moroccan counterparts in the African Youth Championship qualifiers in Rabat.
Omar Sise’s charges won the first leg 1-0 in Banjul exactly three weeks ago and they only need to avoid defeat today at the FUS de Rabat Stadium to advance to the third and final round of the qualifiers.
The game kicks off at 21:45 Gambian time and the team, camped in Rabat for a whole week, is in high spirits and ready to complete the job today. The players held a pre-match free up exercise at the game venue last night to get a feel of the grass pitch.
The Gambia is twice finalists in this competition at the continental stage and also earned a single appearance at the World Cup in Canada in 2007.
