The qualifiers for the 2016 Serekunda East Sports Committee Nawettan kick started on Sunday when Janta Bi FC and Makaay FC played each other at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium.
Forty-six teams paid a registration fee of D5000 each and will be vying for only four places to the Nawettan proper. Three games have been played so far.
Makaay FC became the first team to win in the qualifiers this year, after beating Janta Bi FC 3-1 in regulation time on Sunday. Both teams started the contest very well in the first half but Janta Bi FC were later overpowered by Makaay FC.
In the other games played in mid-week, Strikers FC beat One Love Sinchu 2-0, while Weeh Weeh FC also sent Young Stars FC packing after a 2-0 win.
At the time of going to the press, Young Bantaba FC were locking horns with Jarra United FC.
