The course was conducted by Yaya Njie of Senegal and it focused on practical and theoretical training in the areas of coaching with the main goal of enhancing the participants’ abilities to run local activities within the volleyball circle.

The Technical Director of GVBF, Pa Dodou Sarr, emphasised the importance of enhancing the technical ability of the coaches.

He assured that the Federation is always willing to organise more capacity building programmes for the coaches.

“We can see that a great deal of attention is being given to volleyball by Government, clubs, schools and media to help in the development of the game,” Lamin Jammeh, Secretary General of the Federation, stated.

Sergeant Saikou Omar Bargie, a participant from Gambia Armed Forces, said the course provided them with a clear view of some key aspects of coaching in volleyball, including volleyball development, organisation of festivals and preparing the national teams.

Course instructor Yaya Njie thanked the Gambia Volleyball Federation for coming up with the idea of organising the programme. The former Senegal national team coach also thanked the participants for their commitment and discipline during the period.
