The Gambia Football Federation has thrown out Real de Banjul’s appeal against Gambia Ports Authority, whom they claimed have fielded an ineligible player in the two sides’ goalless draw last weekend.
The Federation said after a thorough scrutiny of all the relevant documents, it was found that Gregory Sambou, the payer in question, got yellow cards against Gamtel, Gambia Armed Forces and Brikama United respectively but was eligible to play against Real.
“After receiving yellow cards as per the above, he did not play in their subsequent match against Bombada thus serving the suspension. Therefore Mr. Gregory Sambou in line with the GFF regulation is qualified player. In light of the above development, the protest did not stand,” the Federation said.
