Last year’s league winners Dunnes FC are the champions of the Gunjur Super Cup following a 3-1 win over last year’s knockout winners Persamai in the traditional curtain raiser at the Gunjur Nyamina football field over the weekend.
Despite the downpour, the turnout was impressive.
Both sides got to a good start in the first half with few chances to report on as they were solid at the back.
Just four minutes into the second half, Dunnes FC’s Abdoulie Jallow broke the deadlock when he converted a brilliant strike to give the league champions the lead.
Few minutes later, star player Tijan Barrow crafted in a superb free kick on the hour mark minute to restore parity for his side, before he added a second to seal a convincing victory for his side.
Sulayman Jawo scored the consolation for the hopeless Persamai.
The President of Gunjur Sports Committee, Lamin S Darboe, was quite happy that Green Vision International came on board to sponsor the Super Cup.
As winners, Dunnes FC went home with a giant trophy and cash prize of D9, 000, while Persamai received a consolation prize of D6, 000.
