In a bid to ensure the effective training of its athletes, The Gambia National Paralympic Committee last week held its first official meeting with Hairoun Fitness and Rehabilitation Centre (HFRC) to strengthen ties for the interest of Paralympics development in the country.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Independence Stadium, Sulayman Sowe, Proprietor of the Independence Stadium Gym expressed delight for partnering with the Committee, noting that it takes courage and dedication for such individuals to engage in sporting activities, and that all forms of support should be given to them.

“I chose to partner with them and support at my own level. This inspiration came to me when I saw these young men training very hard at the Independence Stadium in the hot sun. I felt my Gym would be the best place for them to train,” Sowe said.

Sulayman Colley, President of the Gambia National Paralympic Committee commended the efforts of Sowe whom he said has been supporting them since 2003. He said people should emulate the good work he is doing for our nation. Such support, he added,  is going to create a milestone in their sporting activities.

Musa Kasa Taal, former President of the Volleyball Association also lauded the partnership.
