Luniburg FC of Newtown were on Sunday crowned champions of the Bakau curtain raiser Super Cup final after a 4-3 post-match penalty shoot-out win over Vidar FC,  following a goalless stalemate in regulation time.

The game that was witnessed by many football loving fans was played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

As winners, Luniburg FC went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D10, 000, while the runners up, Vidar FC pocketed home a consolation prize of D7, 000

Speaking in an interview with Observer Sports, head coach of Luniburg FC, Omar Joof said his team trained extremely hard to maintain the honour and pride, through lots of test games with teams in different zones.

For his part, the captain of Vidar FC, Ensa Njie, was quite a disappointed man for losing the final, lamenting that it was the second consecutive time they were losing a game to Luniburg through a penalty shoot-out.

The captain admitted that his side is not very good at penalty shoot-out but promised that they would work on their scoring tactics during the game.
