Orlando and Jaliba FC on Wednesday booked their places in the round of 16 stage of the Brikama Nawettan following respective wins over AC Milan and Borderline.

The revitalised Orlando side started the game brightly against AC Milan and it took them only ten minutes to break the deadlock when Omar Njie nodded in the opener. Ebrima Sanneh added a second two minutes before the break to give his side a commanding lead.

AC Milan fought hard for an equaliser and Harry Ndeky gave them a glimmer of hope when he pulled one back in the 48th minute but any hopes of a comeback were dashed after Sheikh Omar Jamanka added a third for a 3-1 win.

Orlando were relegated last year but looks a different side this season and opened their campaign with a 3-2 defeat of Yarambamba.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Jaliba FC defeated Borderline 2-0 in the late game. Jaliba’s in-form striker Alieu Danso teed up Raymon Sanyang with a delightful pass and Sanyang made no mistake in converting the chance after just nine minutes.

The provider turned scorer in the 18th minute when Danso popped home the winner to send his side into the next stage of the competition with six points from two games.

Despite being a household name in the Brikama Nawettan, Jaliba FC has never won a trophy there but their early season form has made them one of the favourites for silverware at the end of the season.

Matches continue on Friday when Sky Power faces Congi Bi at 3pm and Fabou entertain Ajax in the late kickoff at 5pm. On Saturday at 3pm, Amasa will tussle with Alfama and Santo-Su plays the First Infantry Battalion at 5pm.
