A five-day journalism course designed for young sports journalists drawn from the print and electronic media, Tuesday commenced at The Gambia Press Union head office in Fajara.
Sang Mendy, acting Executive Director and trainer at the GPU, said the training course contents include introduction to journalism, news judgment and values, idea development for actual news coverage, backgrounding, planning research and story formats.
According to Mendy, the training will help participants for creative writing and corporate communication, as well as understand ethics of journalism.
Alieu Ceesay, Secretary General of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) commended Sang Mendy and the GPU for the training. He urged the participants to make best use of the training, emphasising that learning is a continuous process.
“The President [Musa Sise] and the entire executive committee of the SJAG would like to thank Sang Mendy for the idea and we are looking forward to more of these kinds of trainings,” he concluded.
