The Kombo Kerewan FC side, on Tuesday book place to the semifinal stage of the ongoing Knockout tournament in the Lamin Nawettan following a win over Villas FC, in a game played at the Sandy Sanna Jatta Memorial football field.

Kombo Kerewan FC eliminated Villas FC by a lone goal to nil after a respectable performance shown by both teams.

Momodou Jeng strike in the 50th minute was all and enough to give his side the deserving victory ahead of the new stage. Villas FC played very well after conceding the goal but their efforts were not maturely materialized as they were eliminated in the entire tournament of the Lamin Nawettan.

Speaking in an interview with Observer Sports shortly after the final whistle, Buba Saidykhan, assistant coach of Kombo Kerewan FC expressed gratitude for the victory, noting that they need to work on how to capitalize on the chances created during the game, as they could score more than one goal.

“The boys played a very good game today compared to their previous matches, but still there is need for improvement because we could have scored more than three goals looking at the game, so we will go back to the drawing board and work on those mistakes,” he told Observer Sports reporters.

Saidykhan went on to urge their fans to come in their large numbers to support the boys in their next game against Sateba United.

Yesterday (Wednesday), Sateba United were locking horns with Gambinos in another quarterfinal encounter.
