The Commercial Department on Friday defeated Technical in a post-match penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw to be crowned champions of the maiden Africell Inter-departmental football tournament.
The final was played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda and was graced by staff and customers of the GSM Company.
The tournament was organised in order to bring staff of Africell together from outside their official working time to interact and get to know each other more.
Three minutes into the first half, Technical took an early lead courtesy of Amruf Sanneh who scored a stunning free kick.
A well taken headed ball by Lamin Samateh from a brilliant cross after 11 minutes of play gave Commercial the equaliser.
In a post-match chat with Observer Sports, Ronald Sengore of Commercial Department was quite happy with the victory. He commended his teammates for the hard work and team spirit.
