Speaking in a Daily Observer interview, Abdoulie Star Jallow, the first Vice President of The Gambia Football Federation, who together with Abdou Jallow both hail from Basse in the Upper River Region and played together in the 1970s, described the deceased as a goal merchant.

He added that as a result of his dedication to the game, Abdou Jallow also played for his university football team in the United States. He also recalled that in 2010 when The Gambia hosted a veteran football tournament in which Senegal, Mauritania and Guinea Conakry also participated, the late Abdou captained the Gambian side.

He pointed out that Abdou has also contributed financially to support the running of The Gambia Veteran Footballers Association on many occasions.

Alhaji Momodou Njie, alias, Biri Biri, a Gambian football legend who also played with Abdou Jallow said the deceased also played for Dingareh F.C in Banjul, noting that he was an experienced player who had represented his country at various levels of football with distinction.
