The team doctor of The Gambia U-20 side has assured Gambians not to worry when it comes to the health situation of the players. Kalifa Manneh was speaking ahead of the team’s adeparture to Dakar where they will play an international friendly with neighbors Senegal on Sunday.

“We are very fortunate that Gambian players are very lucky that [the players are very healthy and intelligent] in terms of their health status, which is very important to me,” said Karl who has more than a decade working experience with the country’s different national football teams.

The Gambia Football Federation, he told Observer Sports, has been very supportive in ensuring that the players do not face any problem when it comes to their nutritional aspect.

On how he would assess the overall health condition of the players at the time of the interview on Tuesday evening, Manneh said, “There is no injury worry because I make sure I check every player each day; these players are my asset. I also follow the type of food they eat, which I advised them [the food to eat] when we are not in camp.”

He assured that the boys are in good shape going into the international friendly away to Senegal in Dakar next Sunday and the home leg against Guinea Conakry on the 10th July. “We make sure all the players because FIFA or CAF will tell you they are not responsible for any illness or any medical problem of any players,” he told Observer Sports.
