Gambian international Momodou Ceesay has returned to Slovak side MSK Zilina on a short-term contract following a one-week trial.

Ceesay, 27, without a club in the last six months after leaving Maccabi Netanya played for Zilina between 2010 and 2012 and was the catalyst of the club’s qualification to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League scoring in all six games during the qualifiers.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website this week, the former Wallidan, Westerlo and Kairat Almaty forward said: “I’m back home. My agent told me that Zilina wanted to test me to see whether I’m in the [best] physical condition to play and help the team. That is why I’m here. [But] for me it is not a test; for me, am back.”

Speaking on his memories from his first stint at the club, he added: “Everything is new here, but the feelings are the same. I feel happy here as always. It’s good, every workout, I feel more confident and better. After a medical test I have no problem.

“I’m more mature, more understanding in life. Otherwise, I’m still the same person. The direction in which they are trying to move with the coach is the best possible. Keep the ball and force the opponent to run more. I like it.”

The duration of the former Gambia U-17 and U-20 forward’s contract is six months. After two games into the new season, Zilina is second on the table with four points.
