After four days of hectic journey, The Gambia sporting delegation at the 2016 Olympic Games arrived in Rio de Janeiro around 3.00am Brazilian time (6.00am GMT) on Tuesday.
The team left Banjul on Saturday, July 30th but had a rocky journey due to unfavourable bookings combined with many flight delays.
The delegation comprises Modou Demba, GNOC Development Officer; team leader, Alhagie Dodou Capi Joof of The Gambia Athletics Association; Mariama Sallah Saine, Athletics Coach; Arfang Y Jobe, Swimming Coach; athletes Adama Jammeh and Gina Bass; swimmer Pap D. Jonga and Namory Trawally, GNOC Information Assistant, Press Attaché to the Gambian team at the Games.
The delegation was received at the Rio International Airport by the Gambian Chef De Mission (CDM) to the Games, Haruna Cham.
The delegation is lodged at the apartment 7 of floor 11 of the Olympic Village situated at the Olympic Park in Rio.
Gambian Judoka, Faye Alex Njie and his coach Victor will join the team on Thursday August 4th.
