The Jiffarong Football Association (JiFA) is reinforcing efforts for the village to become the most dominant football side in Kiang West District.
JiFA, in a bid to achieve this goal Saturday launched a sensational village tournament locally called Nawettan in an attempt to scout out the best talents.
The first encounter begins with a spectacular show down between Sky Power and Selection.
It’s Alagie Njie of the Selection FC whose individual briliance resulted to a brace, giving his side a 3-2 victory against a more robust opponent.
Abdou Njie, the head coach of Selection FC, in a post-match interview with Observer Sports, said he was very delighted at the win.
“I am happy with the win,” he said. ” But I was a bit surprised by this win because we played against a very good side.”
He finally expressed optimism that his opponent can qualify considering the quality of players they have.
The head coach of Sky Power, Lamin Kanagie, said he was disappointed at the result, which he believed could have been a different one.
He admitted that his side underrated their opponents, but promised that they would prepare very well for their next game in other to qualify for the next stage.
He challenged the referee’s decision on a red card they had during the game, saying it’s questionable and needs tangible explanation.
On Sunday, it was the Golden FC that stole the show, with a convincing 4-2 win over the Young Stars. Baba Barrow and Bakary Barrow’s respective braces were enough to send their fans to a jubilation mood.
The spokesperson of JiFA, Buba Njie, expressed opmitism that the tournament would help the village produce the most dominant side in Kiang West District.
