The Latrikunda-based team Maccassa FC and the Tallinding Kunjang-based team Medina FC, on Saturday became the first two teams to book places in the Derek Serekunda East League Semifinals following their respective wins over Bradford and Bantaba.

Maccassa FC eliminated Bradford FC in the league quaterfinal after a lone goal winner in the 28th minute.

The solo goal tended to have dampened the spirit in the Bradford team after fighting so hard in the game resulting to one of their players’ leg been broken after a harsh tackle from a Maccassa midfielder.

This victory sends Maccassa FC closer to the league title for the first time in several years, while Bradford FC are completely out of the entire Serekunda East competitions.

In the late encounter on Saturday, the defending league champions Medina FC also sent Bantaba FC out of the entire Serekunda tournament after a lone goal win in the regulation time.

This encounter was a Tallinding derby as both teams came from the same town. They were two teams that were predicted by many to meet in the final stage.
