Serekunda East Zonal team’s reward for knocking Real de Banjul out in the quarterfinal stages of the international football competition is a semifinal date with Sukuta at the Independence Stadium today.
Sukuta, semifinalists in the recently concluded Super Nawettan competition, defeated FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania in the same stage of the competition on Wednesday night.
It will be the second meeting between the two sides in this tournament. Sukuta had comfortably defeated Serekunda East 2-0 in the opening game of the competition on Saturday. The two sides also locked horns in the third and fourth place playoff game in the Super Nawettan where Serekunda East prevailed on penalties.
Lamin Dugal Jammeh the Serekunda East coach hailed Real de Banjul for organising the 12-team international football competition in commemoration of their 50th year anniversary. The tournament, he added has availed youngsters the opportunity to showcase their talents to possible scouts and a wider audience.
