Barcelona is the champions of Maka Balla Manneh Nawettan 2016 following a 6-5 post-match penalty shoot out win over local side Real Madrid. The game ended in a goalless draw at regulation time.
The nawettan was oganised by the youths of the village and 19 teams participated from Maka Balla Manneh village and surroundings in Lower Niumi.
Sponsored by Modou Ceesay, director of Internal Audit, the Saturday’s final attracted good turnout including Lt Salifu Bojang, Commanding Officer At Farafenni Military Barracks.
As winners, Barcelona received D1500 and a trophy, while Real Madrid receive D1000.
The coach of the champions Barcelona, Mamad Joof commended his players for the achievement. “I am very happy and I am thanking God because I believe his blessings gave me and my team victory. I was very hopeful since the Nawettan started because we were unbeaten up to the final.”
Real Madrid’s coach, Habib Jobe was quite proud of his side despite the lost.
