The pinnacle of Gambian football, GFF division One league will kick start in the country this weekend across five venues.
The five venues will be: Serekunda East Mini-Stadium, Serekunda West Mini-Stadium, Manjai Father Gough, Brikama Box-Ba, Banjul KG5 Mini-Stadium and the Independence stadium.
The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) football club were the last seasonchampions while Banjul United and Walidan were relegated to the second tie replaced by Marimoo and Tallinding United.
The two new teams, Tallinding United and Marimoo will start their season this Saturday at the Manjai Father Gough Sport Complex where they will face each other. In the Serekunda West Park the same Saturday, Hawks FC will welcome Bombada. Hawks finished 5th in the last season and Bombada 7th.
At the eastern part of Serrekunda, Gamtel will begin without Tapha Manneh to clash with Serrekunda United. Gamtel finished 4th in the last season while Serekunda United finished 10th position.
On Sunday, Samger and GAF will taste life in the league with their new coaches (Jean Joof and Tapha Manneh). In Brikama, the Sateba boys, Brikama United will welcome Real de Banjul in what could be a nail-biting encounter at the Box-Ba mini-stadium. Real are with many former Brikama United players.
At the Independence stadium, Bakau’s giant killers Steve Biko will be the first team in the league to taste the champions GPA.
