Cricket Tournament Kicks Off

The Gambia Cricket Primer League (GPL) Knockout tournament kicked off on Saturday 19th November 2016 at Brikama Jamisa School Cricket ground in Brikama in which Ebbeh-Gi played Brikama Team A.

Brikama Team A won the toss and batted in the first innings and scored 92 runs for 10 wickets in 13.2 overs Siekhatab Kujabi batted and scored 21 runs the highest for them Abubacarr Kuyateh bowled 4 overs and took 5 wickets for 10 runs, while Ebbeh GI batted in the second innings and could only scored 37 runs for 10 wickets in 9.4 overs.

Brikama team also defeated Wallidan on Sunday 20th November 2016 in GPL knockout tournament played at the July 22nd Cricket grounds in Banjul. Brikama B team won the toss and batted in the first innings and scored 101 runs for 10 wickets in 19.1 overs David Demba batted and scored 17 runs the highest for them Pa Kebba Jarju bowled 3 overs and took 2 wickets for 6 runs. While Wallidan batted in the second innings and Scored 90 runs for 10 wickets in 16 overs.

In the Upper Basic and Senior boys category

St. Joseph’s Upper Basic School defeated St. Augustine’s Upper Memorial School in the opening match of the 2016\2017 Upper Basic/ Senior Upper Basic School Boys Knockout Tournament played at the July 22nd Square Cricket grounds in Banjul, on Tuesday.

St. Joseph’s Upper Basic School won the toss and field St. Augustine’s Upper Basic School batted in the first innings and scored 62 runs for 5 wickets in 15 overs Lamin Touray batted and scored 22 runs the highest for them. Ebrima Williams bowled and took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 2 overs bowled, while St. Joseph’s Upper Basic School batted in the second innings and scored 63 runs in 11 overs.

Rev. J.C. Faye Memorial School played Garba Jahumpa Upper Basic School in the 2016\2017 Upper Basic/ Senior Secondary School Boys Knockout Tournament played at the July 22nd Square Cricket grounds in Banjul.

Garba Jahumpa Upper Basic School won the toss and batted in the first innings and scored 92 runs for 4 wickets in 15 overs Baboucarr Jallow batted and scored 23 runs the highest for them. Baboucarr Secka bowled and took 3 wickets for 14 runs in 3 overs bowled. Rev. J. C. Faye Memorial School batted in the second innings and scored 43 runs for 5 wickets in 15 overs.

In the Primary School Boys category

Muhammedan Lower Basic School played Wesley Lower Basic School in the opening match of the 2016\2017 Primary School Boys Knockout Tournament played at the July 22nd Square Cricket grounds in Banjul, on Wednesday.

Wesley Lower Basic School won the toss and batted in the first innings and scored 59 runs for 10 wickets in 12.5 overs Alasan Sowe batted and scored 13 runs the highest for them. Morr Lowe bowled and took 4 wickets for 9 runs in 3 overs bowled. Muhammedan Lower Basic School batted in the second innings and scored 46 runs in 13.5 overs.

Rev. J.C. Faye Memorial School played Campama Lower Basic School inthe 2016\2017 Primary School Boys Knockout Tournament played at the July 22nd Square Cricket grounds in Banjul, on Thursday.

Rev. J.C.Faye Memorial School won the toss and batted in the first innings and scored 44 runs for 6 wickets in 15 overs Ebrima Williams batted and scored 11 runs the highest for them. Ebrima Williams bowled and took 4 wickets for 14 runs in 2.1 overs bowled. Campama Lower Basic School batted in the second innings and scored 40 runs for 10 wickets in 12.1 overs.

In the girl’s category on Monday, Albion Lower Basic School and field, Muhammedan Lower Basic School batted in the first innings and scored 24 runs for 10 wickets in 11.1 overs Betty Touray batted and scored 6 runs the highest for them.

Yassin Touray bowled and took 4 wickets for 11 runs in 3 overs bowled. Albion Lower Basic School batted in the second innings and scored 26 runs in 6.5 overs for 7 wickets Fatoumatta Somen and Aminnata John batted and scored 4 runs each the highest for them.
