The Gambia Armed Forces on Sunday collected their first win of the first division campaign with a 1-0 defeat Hawks at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium.

Sanna Jarju scored the game’s only goal from the penalty after 71 minutes.

This victory will help to boost GAF morals as they aiming for their first trophy in several years under new coach Ebou Jarra.

Speaking in an interview shortly after the final whistle, Jarra expressed delight with the win, noting that they gave respect to their opponent.

‘’We want to win more matches than we draw and we want to draw more matches than we lose, we won this game and we want to win more matches and you can only win were you compete. We also know how to access the other teams and take them game by game and we don’t want to be looking up and also want to look down on the table, meaning that we want to be up always,’’ he affirmed.

For his part, the head coach of Hawks FC, Ansu Fatty expressed disappointment with the finl result, adding that his side could have played better due to their experience in the league.

‘’If you don’t commit yourself in football you wouldn’t play football because if you commit yourself even for 5 minutes you will score a goal. But my boys were not taking it serious that is why our opponent played better than us.’’
