The Banjul-Oostende City link on Tuesday donated football materials to the people of Banjul through the Mayor of Banjul, Hon. Abdoulie Bah, at the ceremony held at the Banjul City Council (BCC) office.
The presentation ceremony was attended by P.E teachers and heads of sports in the various primary schools in Banjul. The materials are aimed at better equipping the primary schools and as well as fostering unity among Banjulians.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Mayor of Banjul Abdoulie Bah said the materials have come at a better time in which the inter primary schools tournament is about to commence. He said the materials will be handed over to the P.E teachers so that they can prepare their teams for the upcoming tournament.
The Mayor of Banjul Hon. Bah went on to thanked his partners in Belgium for the gesture, while expressing hope that the materials will be put into good use.
For his part, the National Sports Coordinator at Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Musa Mendy commended the Mayor and his partners for the materials.
“So I task you (teachers) to be held responsible in complimenting the efforts of Banjul-Oostende City Link to upgrade grassroots football as well as to inculcate discipline in them,” Mendy urged.
Ousman Jobe, country Coordinator of Banjul-Oostende City Link lauded the partnership between Banjul and Oostende.
