The president-elect of The Gambia, Adama Barrow has said that he is a big fan of football, adding he likes sports. He supports Banjul Wallidan and premier league side Arsenal.

“I am a big fan of football, I like sports,” he told Observer Sports in an interview on Wednesday morning at a local hotel in Kololi.

With young people very much into different kind of sports, Barrow said his new government will encourage sportsmen and women and there will be a ministry that will look into that.

“I think we [our sports] are a little bit disorganised and we have to organise ourselves to improve on what we have so that we can have good teams of sports.”

sportsAdama Barrow, 51, was elected president of The Gambia in last Thursday’s presidential polls ending incumbent President Jammeh’s 22 years rule that has greatly invested in the promotion and development of Gambian sports despite the little to celebrate about it.

For the men and women in the media, President-elect Barrow promises better and smoother relationship with the Gambian media. “Is because of information that is why we won the election. We want to be media friendly and we want to repeal the media bill and bring in good laws that will create the environment where people can be informed,” he further told Observer Sports.
